Cybiko Range Extension

Ever since the Cybiko came out, there has been the complaint of the short range for the instant messanging.  If you don't already know, Cybiko has a range of about 300 feet outdoors and about 150 feet indoors.  For people who are in an area with lots of Cybikos, this doesn't present a problem; but many people don't have anyone near them with a Cybiko, so they might as well not even have the instant messanging.

This brought up the thought of extending the range of the Cybiko, by any means necessary.  One of the first thoughts was to replace the antenna with a longer one, but that presented a huge problem.  If you increased teh size of the antenna, it runs on a different frequency.  An antenna was thought to be found that would boost the range, as well as be on the correct frequency.  It was widely known as the "radio shack antenna".  When it was tested, this theory was proved negative, and it actually decreased the range of the Cybiko Instant messanging.  The other downside of this was that it broke the Cybiko's warrenty, much like almost all other Cybiko projects.

Various other methods to increase the range have been tested, and shot down.  Some people have suggested Cybiko put a satellite in orbit, and use that to bounce messages to anywhere.  Not going to happen, no question about it.  Cybiko is a small business, believe it or not.  And the Cybiko hasn't been as sucessful I would have thought.  Cybiko Inc. just doesn't have the funding to do this.  Even if they did, would it work?  Probably so, but we don't even know.

As of right now, there is no proven way to sucessfully boost Cybiko's range.  Everyone will continually search for one, including the Cybiko Domain team.  And of course, if a way is found, it will immediately be posted right here at Cybiko Domain!
