SMC Cards, A Breath of Fresh Air

First of all, yes you can put games, apps, or virtually anything you want on your smc's (smartmedia cards) and run them through the mp3 player to the Cybiko.  This means you can hold tons of games or apps, up to 64 times more than the Cybiko originally comes with!

When I first found out about the free mp3 player, I was totally stoked.  A few days later, when I found out about having to purchase memory for it, I was pretty much bummed.  I still would get the mp3 player, simply because it was free, but I didn't really even plan to buy any memory for it because of it's high price.  Soon after, I found out about the smc's ability to hold games and apps on it, and I was again extremely happy.  The great thing about this is, you can get 8 times as much memory for your Cybiko with an smc as you can with the Cybiko memory card, and it costs almost the same.  The 8 mb smc is about 5 bucks more expensive.  I was planning for a while to get the 8 mb smc, but then I discovered that a 4 mb card would be plenty for my purposes, and you can get those for really cheap.

It would have been really great if Cybiko Inc. would have made it well known about this possibility, because it would have been better for a lot of people who purchased their memory card.  I guess that they wouldn't have made any profit on their official memory card, so it was very smart for them not to make it public J.

I really do think that when our mp3 players arrive, and we can use the smc's for memory storage, it will make Cybikos really fun again.  For me, it will totally eliminate the "delete one game to get another" problem that is so annoying.  I encourage everyone who is getting the free mp3 player to get a 4-8 mb smc, it will be well worth your 10-30 dollars.  Later.
